Our youth need more when it comes to mental health. In 2021, they called it out as part of our Design Your Future Fellowship – and they haven’t stopped calling since. Milwaukee Succeeds is listening and, together with our community partners, we’re making moves to change things for good.
Youth Ambassadors Reflect on Community Listening Sessions
What should students learn? How should students learn? And who should students learn from? Those questions formed the basis for Youth Forward MKE's community listening sessions in 2023. The goal behind these sessions was to inform the structure and curriculum of the Autonomous Youth Council, part of Design Your Future proposal 3.
Youth Forward MKE’s Fall Meeting Dives into Data
Youth Forward MKE’s fall coalition meeting on September 27 dove headfirst into data, exploring the struggles our youth are currently facing and uplifting solutions that have proven effective in addressing them.
Helping Partners Grow through Capacity Grants
Youth Forward MKE is investing in change. So far this year, they’ve provided $400,000 in Partner Capacity Building Grants to five local youth-serving organizations. The funding, informed by discussions with youth ambassadors and the larger coalition, is intended to expand the work of coalition partners and fuel their innovative youth-centered programming.
Youth Drive the Discussion on Change during In-Person Meeting
On June 21, Youth Forward MKE hosted its first ever in-person meeting, which blended youth-led discussions with immersive data and thought partnership. Despite the heat and the sun beating down on the rooftop of CORE El Centro, where the event was held, nearly 30 youth, staff and partners showed up to listen, learn and support our mission of reshaping education in Milwaukee.
