Mental Health Trainings Continue for Early Childhood Educators
During the height of the pandemic, Milwaukee’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) Coalition facilitated mental health trainings for hundreds of providers. Now, thanks to a generous grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, these trainings are set to reach even more of the city’s educators.

On October 21, the Milwaukee Common Council approved a $7 million proposal by the ECE Coalition to invest ARPA funds into Milwaukee’s ECE sector.

ECE Staffing Shortage Leads to Fewer Spots, Longer Wait Lists
According to NAEYC, 78% of ECE centers in Milwaukee reported experiencing staffing challenges. This decrease in staff has led to a decrease in the number of children many providers have been able to take in, contributing to the existing shortage of child care options in the city.

Finance Committee Recommends ARPA Investment in ECE
On Friday, October 15, the Milwaukee Common Council’s Finance and Personnel Committee recommended approval of a $7 million investment of ARPA funds into Milwaukee’s ECE sector.

Milwaukee Considers Federal Aid Proposal to Support ECE
The ECE proposal would help bolster the sector, providing stipends for programs and educators, increasing access to affordable housing for providers and increasing participation of men of color in the ECE workforce.
